HAND SANITIZER VS. sOAP AND WATER
A new study found kids who used hand sanitizer instead of soap and water at daycare missed fewer days of school, had fewer respiratory infections and were prescribed fewer antibiotics for those infections. You can read more about the study here.
DON’T DELAY PUSHING
A new study says first-time moms who receive an epidural should start pushing once they become fully dilated for the best outcome for mom and baby. In this study researchers found women who pushed right away experienced less excessive bleeding after delivery, less bacterial infections, and shorter second stage labor. Not every birth experience is the same so, as always, discuss things like this with your doctor.
EPA TOP CHILDREN’S OFFICIAL ON LEAVE - BUT WHY?
A top EPA official whose sole purpose is protecting children from environmental toxins has been placed on administrative leave with absolutely no explanation. When pressed by CBS News the government agency gave no explanation for Dr. Ruth Etzel’s leave. It’s an important story that leaves many wondering about the EPA’s priorities when it comes to regulations that protect children.
