The Mom Report: Margs & Guac

Cinco de Mayo is this weekend and if you are looking for a tasty cocktail and snack to celebrate with, we’ve got you covered! After extensive research over many years (lol), The Mom Report has confidently found the best margarita recipe and tweaked it to perfection. Keep in mind, we like it tart and refreshing; pre-made mixes don’t fly here. If you like it a little sweeter, there is an option to add some agave syrup, but we tend to leave that part out.

For those of you who need an alcohol-free option, give the tasty Mama'rita a try (below)!

Of course, every good cocktail needs a salty snack, so we made sure to include our favorite guacamole recipe too! It's easy to make, healthy and deeeelicious!

Ice cubes

Coarse kosher salt for the rim

1 lime sliced into wedges

½ cup good tequila

¼ cup triple sec or orange liqueur of choice

2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

Agave syrup (optional)

1. If you like a salted rim: run a lime wedge around the edge of glass and dip glass into a plate of salt to coat the rim.

2. Place ice, tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and a squeeze of agave (if you like it sweeter) into a cocktail shaker. Shake until cocktail shaker is nice and cold.

3. Strain into glass. Serve with a lime wedge! Enjoy!

MAMA'RITA (Serves one)

Ice cubes

1 lime sliced into wedges

Limeade (I like the Simply Limeade brand)

Sparkling Water

Fill glass with ice and about ½ to ¾ of Limeade. Top off with sparkling water. Give it a stir and serve with a lime wedge. Enjoy! *Can also be strained if you don’t want ice in the glass

2 ripe avocados

1 lime

1 roma tomato, diced

½ small red onion, diced

1 small jalapeño, diced with seeds and stems removed

Handful of fresh cilantro, chopped

Salt and pepper

Cut avocados in half, lengthwise. Remove the seed. Use a spoon to scoop out the flesh and put into bowl. Using a fork, mash the avocado until nice and creamy with small chunks.

Add the diced tomato, red onion, jalapeño, and cilantro to the avocado. Squeeze the juice of one lime over top. Season with salt and pepper. Stir and enjoy with your favorite tortilla chips or sliced veggies!
