Best Sunscreens For Babies & Toddlers

Finding a good sunscreen for your littles can be a challenge, especially for those of us with sensitive skin. After trying a quite a few expensive, organic, chemical-free brands only to see my two-year-old son break out in full body rash, we finally found something that works for him (and our entire sensitive skin family).

Since we had such a difficult time finding the perfect sunscreen, hopefully this post will save you some headache. Here are the sunscreens that work for us. Some links in this post are affiliate links, meaning The Mom Report makes a small commission on items purchased via these links to support our site. These are truly products that we personally use and love.

Blue Lizard

This Blue Lizard Baby Sunscreen is our favorite.  We've been using this on our little guy since he was about seven months old. He's a toddler now and it has never once irritated his skin. It works beautifully. This particular formula is only water resistant for 40 minutes, so you’ll need to re-apply if you're out in the sun for awhile. Luckily there are lots of different formulas available, including options that are water resistant for up to 80 minutes, but this has been our favorite so far for his (and our) sensitive skin.  There's no strong smell, it's thick but goes on easy, and keeps our sensitive skin safe in the sun.

Vanicream

This Vanicream Sunscreen Sport is another favorite. We learned about this brand from a dermatologist helping us sort through an allergic reaction to another (unrelated) product and loved the line so much we tried the sunscreen. It has absolutely no smell, goes on easy, and is perfect for sensitive skin.

Everybody's skin is different, so what works for our family might not necessarily work for you. We spent a lot of time (maybe too much...) researching to try to find the "perfect" sunscreen for my sweet boy that wasn't full of harmful chemicals and this is where we ended up. If you find yourself in the same predicament as us, these are two options that are definitely Mom Report-approved!
